Quick Progress Update!

Hello All,
It's been a bit since the last update so I wanted to check in and let everyone know where the project stands. We've made a ton of progress and it's really exciting to see the project come together into a cohesive whole.
I've got everything together into roughed layout currently, all spreads are "content complete" with the exception of two which are waiting for pictograms and the cover which is TBD. I'm in the process of finalizing the text with edits and proofreading, and then will begin the process of adding filters and textures to make the digital and physical components blend properly into a single cohesive look.
I'm not previewing anything in this update in the hope that I'll get to share the entire PDF soon!
Thanks for all your support,
David
Process Walkthrough and Updates!

Hello All!
After some trial and error I've settled on a pretty good workflow for producing the artifact spreads. I've written up the process on my blog, mostly because I find writing things using the Kickstarter editor to be miserable (not that blogger is much better...). Check it out if you're curious how I'm going about creating NAPOH (and also to see new artwork):
Emanoel has hit the amazing milestone of finishing all of the Artifact artworks, and is now working on the Pictograms.
Gary has also send me nearly a nearly finished version of the entire soundtrack, and it's absolutely incredible! I can't want to share it all with you.
As always, please let me know what you think of the work so far!
Thanks for all your support,
David
Music, Art, and Handout Previews!

Hello All!
We're making progress, and I'm being very bad at showing that progress, so thanks to whoever clicked the "poke the creator" button for reminding me to do this.
Music
Working with Gary (mostly me just agreeing with the good ideas he has) the structure of the musical accompaniment has been more or less finalized. There will be four total tracks, each corresponding to one portion of a Site: The Approach, The Keep, The Sarcophagus, The Object. Intended to be listened to in order as the players make their way towards the center of the Site and the Artifact it contains.
With that context, here's a preview for the Object tack.
The full track is nearly complete at around 10 minutes long, and I can't wait for you to hear the rest of it.
Art
Emanoel continues to absolutely knock it out of the park. Here's a sketch for The Knowing Sword:
And another for the Intrusive Mark:
Every time I get to see a new piece of art, it immediately makes me want to go revise my writing to reflect how much better the art looks than what I'd had in my brain originally.
Handouts
Per the stretch goal, each of the Items will get a printer friendly player handout to use at the table. Below is my first pass at creating the template (using The Flowering Knife). My idea is that it can function either as a single sheet handout, or each portion could be cut apart and handed out separately as the players uncover/translate each portion of information.
I've currently got it with no extra effects added, but I have some amount of "weathering" or "photocopy" effects in mind. If anyone has any thoughts about the format, any particular things that would be helpful, or any other feedback I'd be very pleased to hear it.
Thanks everyone for your support and your patience, we're making good progress and Not A Place Of Honor is shaping up into a much cooler project than even I had originally envisioned.

Writing milestone and art previews!
– Sun, May 02, 2021 at 02:01:19 PM
Hello all!
I'm happy to announce that we've hit a significant writing milestone. All of the Artifacts have reached the "complete" stage of text. All elements of each artifact are in place, in a coherent, readable way. I expect these will still see some revisions as the art and layout starts to come together, but it's still the large bulk of the writing done!
While I struggle through the writing, Emanoel continues to absolutely knock it out of the park with the artwork.
Don't forget backerkit surveys are out! 92% of you have already responded, and I'll be sending out reminder emails for the remainder soon.
Thanks for your patience everyone, I look forward to showing you more of the project in the future!

Surveys, Updates, and Previews

Surveys
I apologize for the radio silence thus far. I'd been planning to pair the backerkit surveys going out along with the first update, but it took me much longer than I'd expected to figure out how to set up backerkit properly.
In any case, it's done now! I'm just waiting on the go ahead from backerkit to start the smoke test, so you should expect to get the surveys sometime this week.
We'd appreciate you filling out the survey sooner than later even if you expect to change addresses before shipping, since you'll have a chance to edit the address before we finalize things. This also means that the preorder store is open, if you know anyone who missed the kickstarter but would still like to preorder Not A Place Of Honor: https://napoh.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
Updates
Check out this fantastic, and unsettling, and fantastically unsettling art for THE MALEVOLENT RING drawn by Emanoel. He's once again taken my description and turned it into something way better than what I'd been imagining.
I can also now announce that the two stretch goal artifact names are THE PROMETHEAN FLAME and THE FATEFUL BONES.
Previews
Gary Sevison, the musician working on our stretchgoal soundtrack, has gotten started and the early versions of the music are fantastic. Once things are a little more solidified I plan to write a longer update talking about the structure of the music, and the ideas we're trying to express. In the mean time Gary's prepared a small sneak peek preview of one of the tracks, give it a listen here:
I will openly admit that this being my first kickstarter and project of this scope, I have underestimated how much work everything was going to be. I'm doing the best I can to still hit the deadline, but given my own inexperience and some factors out of our control things may slip a little. It won't necessarily happen, but I want to keep things as transparent as possible. Given that in the original timeline I packed most of the work into the first two months (for some reason) I'm currently hoping that even if we miss the interim goals we'll still be shipping the zine when we originally targeted.
In any case, I will keep communicating progress and keep everyone up to date with where things stand!
